A. Kraemerschafhalter et A. Moser, KINETIC-STUDY OF BACILLUS-THURINGIENSIS VAR ISRAELENSIS IN LAB-SCALE BATCH PROCESS, Bioprocess engineering, 14(3), 1996, pp. 139-144
Fermentations of Bacillus thuringiensis have long traditions for the p
roduction of delta-endotoxin as bioinsecticide in agriculture and fore
stry. A process analysis study of endoprotein production by batch ferm
entation is presented in this paper. General fermentation characterist
ics are given and the influence of dissolved oxygen to sporulation and
toxicity is discussed. Kinetics of growth and product formation is ex
amined and a model based on Monod with an inhibition constant is used
to describe the process. The model should provide a useful framework f
or further process verification and optimisation in practice.
