NEW TRITERPENES FROM THE LEAVES OF TIMONIUS TIMON

Two new triterpenes, 3 beta,6 beta,23-trihydroxyolean-12-en-28-oic aci d [1] and 3 beta,6 beta,19 alpha,23-tetrahydroxyolean-12-en-28 acid [2 ], have been isolated from the leaves of Timonius timon (Rubiaceae) wi th other known compounds: 3 beta,6 beta,19,23-tetrahydroxyurs-12-en-8 -oic acid, 3-0-[beta-D-quinovopyranosyl]quinovic acid, nopyranosyl(1-- >2)beta-D-quinovopyranosyl]quinovic acid, and loganin. Their structure s were determined by spectroscopic methods (eims, hrfabms,H-1 nmr,C-13 nmr,H-1-H-1 COSY, and H-1-C-13 COSY).
