THE EFFECT OF CONSISTENCY ON PRESSURE PULSES IN BLADE GAP FORMERS

Newly-developed theoretical equations have been employed to estimate t he affect of consistency on pressure pulses in blade gap formers. Cons istency was found to affect pressure pulses through two variables. gap size between the fabrics and drainage resistance from mat build-up. I I was shown that increasing consistency led to increasing peak pressur e. The influence of the pressure pulses on formation improvement and r etention was also examined. An approximate correlation was shown to ex ist between formation improvement and a displacement distance related to stock flow relative to the fabrics caused by the pressure pulses.
