Abstract
To assist our study of the reaction of toluene and other aromatic comp ounds with methyl oleate and other olefinic esters, benzene and toluen e have been alkylated under Friedel-Crafts conditions with hex-1-ene, hex-3-ene, methyl hex-3-enoate and methyl hex-3-enedioate. The product s were isolated and identified by NMR and mass spectrometric procedure s.
