Ft. Elhissy et al., EFFECT OF THE FUNGICIDE CHLOROTHALONIL (BRAVO) ON SOME METABOLIC-ACTIVITIES OF AQUATIC FUNGI, Folia microbiologica, 40(3), 1995, pp. 341-344
Physiological responses of Achlya proliferoides, Saprolegnia ferax and
Dictyuchus sterilis as affected by the fungicide chlorothalonil (Brav
e) were determined. Glucose consumption differed in dependence on the
organisms used. Ammonia and peptide nitrogen secretion were stimulated
in S. ferax but inhibited in the other two organisms. All doses of th
e fungicide used decreased phosphorus absorption and increased acid ph
osphatase activity. The lowest concentrations (30 ppm) of the fungicid
e increased DNA, RNA and protein synthesis while inhibition was observ
ed at moderate or high concentrations. Aspartate aminotransferase and
alanine aminotransferase activities were inhibited in A. proliferoides
, stimulated in S. ferax but remained similar to that of the control i
n D. sterilis.
