Abstract
The novel flavones 6-28, which display structural analogies with the t wo well-known lipid peroxidation inhibitors, probucol [1] and butylate d hydroxytoluene [2], were synthesized and studied in vitro for their ability to inhibit the copper sulfate or endothelial cell-induced lipi d peroxidation of human low-density lipoprotein (LDL). Most of the fla vones were active in the range of 0.1-1 mu M.
