G. Lewin et al., SYNTHESIS AND EVALUATION OF 3',5'-DI-TERT-BUTYL-4'-HYDROXYFLAVONES ASPOTENTIAL INHIBITORS OF LOW-DENSITY-LIPOPROTEIN (LDL) OXIDATION, Journal of natural products, 58(12), 1995, pp. 1840-1847
The novel flavones 6-28, which display structural analogies with the t
wo well-known lipid peroxidation inhibitors, probucol [1] and butylate
d hydroxytoluene [2], were synthesized and studied in vitro for their
ability to inhibit the copper sulfate or endothelial cell-induced lipi
d peroxidation of human low-density lipoprotein (LDL). Most of the fla
vones were active in the range of 0.1-1 mu M.
