A few complexes of the type ML(2)xH(2).O [M = Cu(II) or Zn(II), LH = N
-acetyl-dl-valylglycine or N-acetyl-1-phenylalanylglycine, x = 0-2] an
d adducts of the type CuL(2)B(n).xH(2)O (n = 2, B = pyridine, 2-, 3- a
nd 4-picoline, triphenylphosphine oxide, n = 1 for 2,2'-bipyridyl and
1,10-phenanthroline, x = 0-2.5) have been prepared and characterized b
y TGA, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, electr
onic (solid and solution), infrared, ESR and C-13 NMR spectra wherever
applicable. The ESR spectra of four copper(II) complexes indicate the
presence of both monomeric and dimeric species. The remaining copper(
II) complexes are magnetically dilute species.
