Abstract
We have investigated three different quasi-phase-matching approaches t o second-harmonic generation (SHG) in DANS (4-dimethylamino-4'-nitrost ilbene) poled polymer channel waveguides at 1.5 mu m. Periodic photobl eaching and periodically poled electrodes deposited directly on the fi lm produced unacceptably high propagation losses. However, periodic el ectrodes on the substrate gave low losses and useful SHG. (C) 1996 Ame rican Institute of Physics.
