Abstract
We present experimental results on the structure of the turbulent wake of a sphere and on the frequencies associated with the vortex sheddin g in a stratified fluid. The strong correlation between the random int ernal wave field emitted by the wake and the coherent structures of th e turbulent wake is demonstrated.
