Wj. Ferguson et Iw. Turner, CONTROL-VOLUME FINITE-ELEMENT MODEL OF MECHANOSORPTIVE CREEP IN TIMBER, Numerical heat transfer. Part A, Applications, 29(2), 1996, pp. 147-164
This article presents the application of the control volume finite ele
ment (CVFE) numerical solution technique to the analysis of drying-ind
uced stresses in timber. Two stress formulations me presented: first,
a plane strain elastic analysis and, second, a mechanosorptive creep a
nalysis, which models the well-known behavior of stress reversal in ti
mber. In order to highlight the applicability of the CVFE method in st
ress analysis problems, the numerical solutions to two problems are co
mpared against an analytical solution and previously published numeric
al simulation remits.
