G. Vandenbroucque et al., PULMONARY COMPLICATION AND PERITONITIS - THE ROLE OF RESPIRATORY PHYSIOTHERAPY, Medecine et maladies infectieuses, 25, 1995, pp. 114-120
This paper reviews chest physiotherapy during peritonitis-induced pulm
onary complications. The aims of physiotherapy are to treat airway obs
truction and dysfunction, diaphragm dysfunction in an attempt to reduc
e pulmonary infections and length of hospital stay. All the physiother
apy regimens may be equivalent. However, the efficacy of physiotherapy
is likely to be correlated with the postoperative risk and may be mor
e useful in high-risk patients.
