INVERSION OF POLARIZATION IN LASER-EXCITED NO2 - AN OVERLAP OF DELTA-F = O WITH DELTA-F = PLUS-OR-MINUS-1 TRANSITIONS DOES NOT EXPLAIN THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS
F. Bylicki, INVERSION OF POLARIZATION IN LASER-EXCITED NO2 - AN OVERLAP OF DELTA-F = O WITH DELTA-F = PLUS-OR-MINUS-1 TRANSITIONS DOES NOT EXPLAIN THE EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS, Journal of physics. B, Atomic molecular and optical physics, 27(2), 1994, pp. 283-285
It is know that the Hanle effect signal and the optical radio-frequenc
y double-resonance signal on NO2 may reveal an inversion effect under
some particular conditions, However, the experimental results are not
satisfactorily explained within the standard description of molecules.
Recent experimental results suggest the overlap of DELTAF=0 transitio
ns with DELTAF=+/-1 transitions as a possible explanation. It is shown
in this paper that this explanation fails to describe the experimenta
l results for NO2.
