Abstract
Reaction of biphenyl-4,4'-tetrazonium ion with 1,3-diketones (benoylac
etone, dibenzoylmethane and thenoyltrifluoroacetone) led to the format
ion of '-(4,4'-biphenyldihydrazono)bis(1,2,3-triketones). The compound
s have been shown to exist in tile intramolecularly hydrogen-bonded di
hydrazones. Bimetallic chelates of composition M(2)L(2) (M = Co-II, Ni
-II and Pd-II) have been synthesised and characterised on the basis of
ir, H-1 and C-13 nmr and mass spectral data.
