Abstract
A computational method is developed for solving the wave equation for the propagation of a pulse through layered dielectric media. The metho d is based on an ansatz for evaluating fields in each layer after a te mporal interval dt using a Fourier method. The resulting spatial field s represent the solution to the wave equation provided dt is small eno ugh that many temporal intervals are required for the passage of the p ulse through a boundary.
