Abstract
Selecting appropriate laboratory tests in diagnosing peripheral neurop athies is important because it increases the yield of correct diagnose s and is cost effective. This article provides a guide to selecting ap propriate tests and reviews the clinical situations that suggest speci fic tests. Several types of tests, including electrodiagnostic testing , quantitative sensory testing, routine blood tests, and antibody assa ys, are discussed in detail.
