Abstract
The synthesis of diversely substituted ortho-methyl N,N-diethylbenzami des using the orthometallation concept is described. A dramatic effect of the substituents and the additive TMEDA is observed during metalla tion ortho to the N,N-diethylcarboxamido group. Molecular modeling con firms the conformational effect of substituents. A role for the TMEDA additive is proposed.
