The high-spin states of Bi-198 have been studied in the reaction Re-18
7(O-16, 5n)Bi-198 at O-16 energies from 85 to 105 MeV. In-beam measure
ments of gamma-ray excitation functions, gamma-gamma-t coincidences an
d gamma-ray angular distributions were carried out with six BGO(AC)HPG
e detectors and one intrinsic Ge planar detector. A level scheme for B
i-198 with 26 gamma rays was established for the first time, including
a 15(+) isomer with a measured half-life of 8.0+/-3.6 ns.
