We examine the systematic predictions for proton and neutron radii in
even-even nuclei made by the self-consistent Skyrme-Hartree-Fock-Bogol
iubov theory. Such an approach allows us to describe nuclei far from s
tability, where the spatial extensions of a nuclear system crucially d
epend on the continuum effects. We concentrate on the influence of sph
erical shell structure on global behavior of radii. The (N, Z)-localiz
ation of neutron and proton skins is discussed.
