DEVELOPMENT OF A SYSTEM FOR THE CONTROL OF THE TRANSVERSE TEMPERATUREPROFILE OF STRIPS IN HOT STRIP MILLS

In order to control the uniformity of microstructure and mechanical pr operties of hot rolled coils, as well as strip flatness, a newly devel oped edge masking device is used on the runout table. Optimum setting conditions have been determined for both the already existing Enco pan els and edge heaters and the new edge mask device. The temperature dif ference at the strip edges is reduced and the material properties beco me more uniform.
