Temperature dependences of Young's modulus E, shear modulus G, logarit
hmic decrement Q(-1), and thermal effects of the quenched Ti - Nb - Al
alloys (2 wt % Al and 15 - 40 wt % Nb) with various as-quenched struc
tures (alpha' (alpha''), alpha'' + beta(met), beta(met)) are studied.
On heating, the metastable structure decomposes towards the equilibriu
m state, and, in the temperature range of phase transformations, the i
nternal friction increases. The results could be used for the attainme
nt of optimal properties (E, G, and Q(-1)) after an adequate heat trea
tment.
