Abstract
The reaction of 1,2-diaminoethane (5) with malonic acid derivatives (6 , 7, 8, 10) gives oligo- and polymers that were characterized by MALDI -ToF mass spectrometry. Literature reports that claimed the formation of the title compound in these reactions were critically evaluated and could not be confirmed.
