Abstract
In a recent letter Bachau, Roncin and Harel have proposed an ingenious method based on the PCI effect to obtain stabilization of certain cla sses of autoionizing states during ion-atom collisions. In this commen t we argue that although the effect as such is possible we find severa l difficulties with its application to cases for which stabilization h as been observed.
