The Ulysses encounter with Jupiter gave a unique opportunity for the s
tudy of ions in the Jovian day side in the range 0.3 < (E/nuc) < 6 MeV
. The EPAC experiment has already provided a wealth of interesting res
ults concerning the composition and the anisotropies in the magnetosph
ere (Krupp et al., Planet. Space Sci. 41, 953, 1993), however a more c
omplete understanding of the observations is still lacking from the sc
ientific literature. This paper contributes to the held with the analy
sis of numerical simulations of non-adiabatic trajectories in Jupiter'
s current sheet and the calculation of the appropriate anisotropies. T
he results presented here differ from the existing numerical results i
n that they seem to be in good agreement with the observations of both
the Ulysses and Voyager encounters.
