Abstract
A strategy for preparation of two dimensional layered compounds is int roduced. This strategy explores the possibility of using the 2-amino-4 (H)-pyrimidone ring system as a host for dicarboxylic acids guests. Th is strategy is successful for the orientation of adipic acid into a tw o dimensional beta-network with a molecular repeat distance of 6.5 Ang strom.
