The martensitic phases in stoichiometric CuZr have been investigated b
y SAED and HREM. Detailed diffraction tilt series reveal a superstruct
ure of the B19' (NiTi type) unit cell to be the major phase which also
exhibits multiple microtwinning within one martensite plate. In some
plates evidence for the basic B19' structure is found. From HREM a con
firmation of the unit cell symmetry and dimensions for the superstruct
ure was obtained and a suggestion for the type of shuffles yielding th
e superstructure could be given.
