Abstract
Fe-based shape memory alloy( SMA) pipe couplings have been del eloped and successfully used in oilfields and chemical engineering department s. Using the pipe coupling connecting pipe line will avoid the serious corrosion near the welding zone, which usually occur due to the use o f the traditional welding technique. The Fe-based SMA material used in our study shows a good comprehensive mechnical and shape recovery pro perties. Special structure of pipe coupling has been designed in order to meet the needs of high pressure pipe line with high reliability fo r the engineering application on a large scale. The products of Fe-bas ed SMA pipe couplings have been produced and used in connecting the pi pe line near 40 MPa pressure in several oilfields and chemical enginee ring plants in China.
