Jx. Saladin et al., EVIDENCE FOR CONTINUUM EO TRANSITIONS FOLLOWING THE DECAY OF HIGH-SPIN STATES IN CE-130, Physical review. C. Nuclear physics, 53(2), 1996, pp. 652-659
The decay of high-spin states in the continuum of Ce-130 is studied vi
a gamma-ray and internal conversion electron spectroscopy. An electron
surplus above predicted yields based on gamma data is seen in coincid
ence with transitions in the yrast band of Ce-130. We attribute this t
o an admixture of electric monopole (EO) transitions with unstretched
E2 and M1 transitions between strongly interacting bands of different
deformations in the continuum. The EO matrix elements needed to explai
n this surplus are comparable in magnitude to reported EO matrix eleme
nts between discrete states in neighboring nuclei.
