The branching ratio (BR) for stopped negative pion induced single char
ge exchange was experimentally determined for CH2, Al-27, P-31, S-32,
Sc-45 and In-115. The BR for CH2 agrees with a previous determination;
the others can be understood in terms of the shell model structure of
the targets. These results will facilitate studies of the effective p
ion-nucleon isovector interaction in nuclei at threshold energies.
