USE OF ANIMAL JAWS FOR THE ORNAMENTS OF A NCIENT CERAMICS

The present paper is aimed at a verification of the hypothesis made by the authors on the use of animal jaws for the ornaments of ancient ce ramics. Therefore a number of experiments have been made to discover t he problem the jaw of what animals is applied to this or that ornament , what fragments of the jaws and in what position are applied. A compa rative analysis between the experimental samples with the ornaments of the ceramic fragments have resulted in the following: 1. It is possib le to discover the maxillary ornaments in the Urals Region and in some other regions as well; 2. It is possible to identify teeth marks in c eramics fragments at the level of order, family and in some cases even genus of animals, the jaws of which have been used for the ornaments.
