ECONOMICS - A SOCIAL-SCIENCE, NOT MATHEMA TICS

The article is a revised verion of a speech at Samhallsvetenskapliga K retsens 50th anniversary symposium in Helsinki. The author of this art icle, somewhat provocatively, proclaims that education and research in economics should be given a more humanistic approach. This would enab le more profound understanding of the economic phenomenas. In case mat hematics is to be used it should be more advanced in order to provide more accurate explanations and forecasts.
