Vi. Okulov et al., AN ACOUSTIC ANALOG OF THE GIANT MAGNETORE SISTANCE EFFECT IN METALLICMULTILAYER FILMS, Fizika nizkih temperatur, 21(8), 1995, pp. 885-887
It is shown that the mechanisms of the giant magnetoresistance effect
observed in metal magnetic multilayer films manifest themselves in the
absorption of long-wove ultrasound penetrating the film. The electron
absorption of ultrasound in thin layers is found to be mainly due to
electron scattering by boundaries. The character of correlation of the
magnetic field dependences of absorption coefficient and magnetoresis
tance is defined by that mechanism of the effect which is realized in
a given film.
