Abstract
MAGNETIC held tomography (MFT) displays three dimensional estimates of the distribution of the primary current density vector, J(p), as extr acted from noninvasive, non-contact, magnetoencephalographic (MEG) mea surements. MFT was used to study the spatiotemporal evolution of the i nterictal activity during single spike events of a patient with comple x partial epilepsy. The sequences of events of the interictal spikes w ere analysed in sagittal sections, particularly at the depth of the te mporal lobe. It appeared that the left-sided interictal spikes were us ually initiated at the cortical level of the left temporal lobe, the a ctivity then propagating to the left amygdaloid and hippocampal format ion. However, some focal deep activity in this region was obviously in itiated in the contralateral hemisphere.
