Js. Heywood et G. Nezlek, THE GENDER WAGE GAP AMONG SOFTWARE WORKERS - TRENDS OVER THE LAST 2 DECADES, Social science quarterly, 74(3), 1993, pp. 603-613
This paper investigates whether the gender earnings gap adjusted for k
ey earnings determinants has shown secular decline in the occupational
category of software and related workers. Examination of data from th
e last two decades reveals that no such secular decline has happened.
This demonstration provides additional evidence on the debate over the
decline of the gender earnings gap. Moreover, the focus on a narrow o
ccupational category holds constant any changing gender composition ac
ross occupations, a possible source of any decline in the economywide
earnings gap.
