Abstract
The terminology of juxta-dural ring aneurysms of the internal carotid artery is reviewed historically with special reference to those aneury sms protruding ventrally. The first description of such cases was made by Drake as exceptional examples of carotid-ophthalmic aneurysms. Yas argil and Fox termed them ventral (inferior) internal carotid artery a neurysms. The term (ventral) paraclinoid aneurysm was coined by Nutik. We introduced the concept of carotid cave aneurysms, The name superio r hypophyseal artery aneurysm was proposed by Day. Other related termi nologies by various authors are also described. (C) Pearson Profession al Ltd 1995
