B. Bharali et K. Chandra, SLW - A SELECTION CRITERION FOR EXPLOITING POTENTIAL YIELD IN RICE (ORYZA-SATIVA L) UNDER LOW-LIGHT CONDITION, Journal of environmental biology, 17(1), 1996, pp. 71-74
Field experiment on low light (50% of normal light) with ten rice vari
eties in wet season indicated that Sonamukhi (108 mg), Sonamahsuri (15
9 mg), Pankaj (183 mg), Solpona (206 mg), Manoharsali (214 mg) and Vij
aya (238 mg) possessing less SLW under shaded condition showed relativ
ely higher yield. SLW revealing negative correlation with total leaf c
hlorophyll at flowering (r=-1.679*), well filled grains (r=-0.031), p
anicle length (r=-0.471) spikelet per panicle (r=-0.362) and yield (r=
-0.217); positive correlation with leaf nitrogen (r=0.124), DMP (r=0.6
43) and leaf area (r=0.442) at flowering, panicle/m(2) (r=0.661*) est
ablished the criterion for the rice varieties to exploit potential yie
ld under shaded condition.
