Abstract
Optimisation of the design parameters for a reflectron geometry time-o f-flight mass spectrometer (RTOFMS) has been done by a simplex optimis ation method based on a Nelder-Mead Algorithm. The space and energy re solutions obtained are 6100 and 7400, respectively, for mass 200 amu. The resolution is quite adequate for all the applications of RIMS. A h igh resolution reflectron geometry time-of-flight mass spectrometer (R TOFMS) for resonance ionisation mass spectrometer (RIMS) is being fabr icated, based on these optimised design parameters.
