Y. Morioka et al., SYSTEM SEPARATION EQUIPMENT TO MINIMIZE POWER-SYSTEM INSTABILITY USING GENERATORS ANGULAR-VELOCITY MEASUREMENTS, IEEE transactions on power delivery, 8(3), 1993, pp. 941-947
The purpose of this newly developed equipment is to separate the power
system when an out-of-step between two groups of generators within it
is predicted. The out-of-step prediction method is based on the gener
ator's angular-velocity data measured by electromagnetic sensors and g
ears that are fastened directly to the rotors. The equipment was teste
d by the large-scale power system simulator APSA (Advanced Power Syste
m Analyzer), that is installed in the Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.
The equipment also underwent a field test.
