Abstract
The two alternative methods in current use for the transient simulatio n of HVdc power systems are Electromagnetic Transient Programs and Sta te Variable Analysis. A hybrid algorithm is described in this paper wh ich combines the two methods selecting their best features. The relati ve performances of conventional and hybrid algorithms are discussed. S imulation results of typical back-to-back HVdc link show that the hybr id representation provides more stable, accurate and efficient solutio ns.
