Km. Cornish et J. Pigram, DEVELOPMENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL-CHARACTERISTICS OF CRI DU CHAT SYNDROME, Archives of Disease in Childhood, 75(5), 1996, pp. 448-450
Developmental and behavioural characteristics were assessed in 27 chil
dren with cri du chat syndrome using the Society for the Study of Beha
vioural Phenotypes questionnaire, which gave information on prenatal a
nd perinatal conditions, neurological problems, and developmental and
behavioural difficulties. The findings suggest that the behavioural pr
ofile of children with cri du chat syndrome incorporates self injuriou
s behaviour, repetitive movements, hypersensitivity to sound, clumsine
ss, and obsessive attachments to objects, In terms of a developmental
profile, children with cri du chat syndrome were able to communicate t
heir needs, socially interact with others, and have some degree of mob
ility.
