Acquired cystic disease of the kidney is a common phenomenon in long-t
erm adult dialysis patients with end-stage renal disease. Malignant de
generation with cortical neoplasms is also well documented in this pat
ient population. Although the prevalence of this disease process is co
mmon in adults, the literature is sparse concerning its occurrence in
children. To our knowledge, we report the youngest case of a renal cor
tical neoplasm associated with dialysis-acquired renal cystic disease
in a 13-year-old boy.
