Developments are described in the preparation of 4 pi beta sources. A
method for synthesizing conductive polyaniline (PANI) and preparing a
thin film made of PANI is proposed. The films obtained by this method
are electrically conductive, homogeneous, and chemically and mechanica
lly stable. Quantitative 4 pi beta sources required for activity measu
rements have been made by using the above films as a source support. T
he results show that this new source-making method can satisfactorily
meet the needs for 4 pi beta-gamma coincidence.
