Radionuclidic pure Ru-97 (t(1/2) = 2.9 days) was produced by a (p,3n)
reaction on Tc-99, using the internal radiation facility of the JINR p
hasotron. The conditions of the irradiation, target construction, thic
k-target yield and radiochemical separation of Ru-97 from Tc target ma
terial were searched. The Ru-97 yield really obtained during 1 h irrad
iation of Tc-met (2.8-3.0 g/cm(2); 1.0-1.2 g) with a proton beam of en
ergy 50 MeV and intensity 8 mu A was equal to 45-50 mCi/h. The radioch
emical separation of ultramicroamounts of ruthenium and macroamounts o
f technetium is based on RuO4 distillation from HNO3 or H2SO4 solution
s at 90 degrees C with air flow. The chemical yield of Ru-97 is not le
ss than 95%, the decontamination factor is more 10(4), the duration of
chemical operation is 6-7 h.
