A series of ramethylcyclopentadienyl)alkyl]methylethoxysilanes of gene
ral formula C-5(CH3)(4)H(CH2)(n)Si(CH3)(k)(OCH2CH3)(3-k) (n = 1, k = 0
-2; n = 2, k = 1; n = 3, k = 0, 2) has been synthesized. Pentamethylcy
clopentadiene - containing polysiloxanes have been prepared from these
functionalizing agents and tetraethoxysilane by a sol-gel procedure a
nd characterized by C-13 CP MAS solid-state NMR spectroscopy. Polysilo
xane-anchored cyclopentadienyl - and pentamethylcyclopentadienyl-titan
ium complexes have been obtained by deprotonation of a polysiloxane (n
- 1, k = 0) followed by reaction with CpTiCl(3) and CpTiCl3. The anc
hored complexes were catalytically active in the hydrogenation of 1-oc
tene. Their structure was examined by solid-state NMR and X-ray photoe
lectron spectroscopy.
