Abstract
Molten salts are versatile media with remarkable properties. However, few syntheses have been performed under such conditions. In the presen t paper, it is shown that the use of molten nitrates can achieve the f ormation of alpha-ZrP type phase under mild conditions. Samples were c haracterized by XRD, SEM and chemical analysis. The use of thermogravi metric analysis helps to establish the stoichiometry of the chemical r eactions in the molten salt.
