R. Taieb et Smf. Sheppard, FORMATION WATERS FROM THE MAHAKAM DELTA ( INDONESIA) - EVIDENCE FOR INFILTRATION OF METEORIC WATERS IN THE OIL-FIELDS, Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie 2, Mecanique, physique, chimie, sciences de l'univers, sciences de la terre, 317(5), 1993, pp. 623-628
The isotopic (H, O, Sr) and chemical compositions of formation waters
associated with oil fields at 900-3,100 m depth from the Tertiary Maha
kam delta show a strong meteoric influence. These waters at 70-110-deg
rees-C did not reach chemical and isotopic equilibrium with the host r
ocks. The chemical and isotopic compositions of formation waters from
Bekapai field, in contrast to those at Handil and Tambora, show eviden
ce for more important water-rock interaction and a non-negligible cont
ribution of sea water. The system is currently being flushed by latera
l flow of meteoric waters from the continent towards the sea.
