G. Amow et Je. Greedan, THE STRUCTURAL AND MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF ND1-XTIO3 FOR X=0, 0.05, AND 0.10, Journal of solid state chemistry, 121(2), 1996, pp. 443-450
The structural and magnetic properties of members belonging to the per
ovskite family, Nd1-xTiO3 for x = 0, 0.05, and 0.10, have been investi
gated. It is found that these compounds adopt the GdFeO3-type structur
e belonging to the space group Pnma. Magnetic susceptibility measureme
nts indicate paramagnetic Curie-Weiss behavior at temperatures typical
ly above 100 K. Antiferromagnetic ordering of the titanium sublattice
is observed at T-N of 90 and 75 K for x = 0 and 0.05, respectively. In
vestigation by low-temperature neutron diffraction reveals evidence fo
r magnetic ordering on both the titanium and neodymium sublattices. Th
e magnetic structure is found to be consistent with that of PrTiO3 and
CeTiO3, having an FxCy configuration on the Nd3+ sublattice and a G(z
)F(x) configuration for the moments on the Ti3+ sublattice. At 10 K, t
he refined magnetic moments on the Nd3+ Sublattice are determined to b
e 1.11(5) and 0.99(5) mu(B) and on the Ti3+ sublattice, 0.87(8) and 0.
74(9) mu(B), for x = 0 and 0.05, respectively. The antiferromagnetic b
ehavior vanishes at the x = 0.10 composition. (C) 1996 Academic Press
