M. Nurminen et M. Vaara, METHANOL EXTRACTS LPS FROM DEEP ROUGH BACTERIA, Biochemical and biophysical research communications, 219(2), 1996, pp. 441-444
Several rough strains of Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica and Pro
teus mirabilis were cultivated in the presence of (C-14)acetate, which
incorporated into their phospholipids and lipopolysaccharide. Phospho
lipids were removed from the cells with ethanol extraction. However, a
s shown by thin layer chromatography, methanol additionally extracted
remarkable quantities of lipopolysaccharide from deep rough strains, b
ur not from bacteria containing complete or nearly complete core. (C)
