Mt. Stechison et Fj. Kralick, THE TRIGEMINAL EVOKED-POTENTIAL .1. LONG-LATENCY RESPONSES IN AWAKE OR ANESTHETIZED SUBJECTS, Neurosurgery, 33(4), 1993, pp. 633-638
TRIGEMINAL EVOKED POTENTIALS have been elicited with differing methodo
logies that render responses almost as numerous as the number of labor
atories reporting them. Forty-six trigeminal nerves were studied to in
vestigate trigeminal evoked potentials in 20 awake, normal subjects an
d 20 patients undergoing surgery with general anesthesia. A comparison
was made between different methods of surface stimulation and subderm
al stimulation. It was concluded that these techniques had no practica
l use in intraoperative monitoring.
