Pyridoxal phosphate, cofactor of several enzymes, possesses linking pr
operties to induce oligomerization of identical proteins such as adren
odoxin-reductase or adrenodoxin. The capability to get such self-assem
blies is slightly lower than that for obtaining the heterologous compl
ex between adrenodoxin-reductase and adrenodoxin which was found to he
essential for electron transfer in the cytochrome P450 system. The in
fluence of pyridoxal phosphate on the complex formation between adreno
doxin-reductase and adrenodoxin as well as the oligomerization reactio
n of the isolated proteins and possible consequences is discussed. (C)
