A. Rosen et A. Isser, A NEW MODEL OF ROTOR DYNAMICS DURING PITCH AND ROLL OF A HOVERING HELICOPTER, Journal of the American Helicopter Society, 40(3), 1995, pp. 17-28
A new model of rotor dynamics during pitch and roll of a hovering heli
copter (or a helicopter in slow axial flight) is presented. This model
is based on the aerodynamic model TEMURA (Technion Model of Unsteady
Rotor Aerodynamics) that has been developed during recent years. After
a description of the new aerodynamic model, its application to calcul
ate the flapping dynamics during pitch is presented. The derivation al
so includes the calculation of the loads that are transferred to the f
uselage. The model is used to study the rotor behavior during pitch an
d roll. It is shown that the new model is capable of predicting correc
tly the helicopter off-axis response, a phenomenon that was beyond the
capability of previous models.
